Through personal stories and intimate conversations, we trace Dalton’s journey from the deep South during the Jim Crow era, to his work in behavioral psychology and restorative justice, to his role in the Africana Studies program at Rutgers, and his impact as an educator, advocate, and community builder from Harlem to Bend, Oregon. His fingerprints are on classrooms, living rooms, protests, policies, and generations of minds. This isn’t just a story about a man—it’s a story about legacy, vision, and what it means to show up when it matters most.

This project includes a two-week filming journey across key cities in Dalton’s life: Boston, Ithaca, Harlem, St. Louis, Memphis, New Jersey, California, Portland, and Bend. Each stop adds another layer to a life that defies simple explanation. Every conversation reveals a new side of the same truth: that when you meet Dalton, you’re never quite the same again.
